Please introduce yourself and tell us a little bit about yourself –
Hello I’m Sarah, or as I’ve made myself known on my book blog Ess. I’m a freelance writer and editor who adores reading and writing. My biggest career goal is to be an author, and I hope to finish some of my writing into book form soon. I also run a production company with my sister called Stuck in a Story Productions where we create web series on Youtube. So far we’ve made two literary inspired ones, a historical inspired one, and are currently working on a Podcast.
The last book you read
Neverworld Wake by Marisha Pessl
Describe the book in 5 words
Groundhog Day but very scary!
What books are on your bedside table at the moment?
I don’t have a bedside table, but I do have a bag I keep my writing notebooks and current read in! (It’s The Pisces by Melissa Broder.)
Favourite hidden gem which you believe should have more attention.
Howl’s Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones (so many people have seen the movie, which is also great, but the book is good in it’s own way!)
What’s the last book that you did not finish? Why?
The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas, I had too many books out at the library and was only able to start it right before it was due. It had just come out so there was no way to renew it, I hope to put it on hold and read it before the movie comes out!
What books are in your latest book haul?
I don’t really have a book haul right now, still waiting on some holds from the library. But I have a whole shelf of unread books to get through! (I’m planning on reading Circe by Madeline Miller next!).
Do you like suspense, or would you rather a book jump right in?
I love suspense because if it’s done right it makes me so intrigued and anxious for what will happen next and I won’t be able to put the book down!
Has a character in a book ever really pushed your buttons? Who and why?
Unpopular opinion, but Hermione Granger from the Harry Potter series in The Half-Blood Prince. She was just so annoying about Snape being the Half-Blood Prince and even after Dumbledore died had to mention she was right. I actually think Hermione can be pretty annoying in the books in general, much more than in the movies.
Where’s your favorite place to read?
My bed or outside! 🙂
Sarah is one of my favourite people on bookstagram and I am so grateful to have her as a guest on my blog!!!
